Cologne Centurions re-sign four experienced defensive linemen

The Centurions have another big signing-day and extended four defensive linemen!

The Cologne Centurions announced the extension of defensive linemen Alexander Boes, Benjo Cerimagic, Junior Briele, and Samuel Ziebarth, as reported by the team.

The North-Rhine-Westphalian franchise started the day off by re-signing Alexander Boes. The multi-positional player will provide the Centurions with depth on the offensive and defensive line, as pointed out by general manager David Drane: ““Alex has the advantage that he can play both offensive and defensive line. He gives us much needed quality depth at the offensive line and some real talent on the defensive line. He even had a great interception last season for us which shows his athletic skills. It will be good to see how well he has developed”.

Shortly after re-signing Boes, the Centurions officially extended defensive lineman Cerimagic. “For me, it’s the greatest honor to play for the Centurions”, Cerimagic commented on being re-signed. Centurions’ general manager David Drane also weighed in on his decision to bring back the athletic defensive lineman: ““Benjo [Cerimagic] is one of our real team guys. I can’t forget his play against the [Stuttgart] Surge last season when his helmet came off. He still ran fearlessly after the quarterback! We got a flag, but it showed how tenacious he is. Great to have him back“.

The Centurions also re-signed Brazilian defensive lineman Briele who was recently nominated to play for the Brazilian National American Football Team. “Junior [Briele] returning is a big plus for us. He is a great character and brings his Brazilian flare to the team. He is a hard worker and he had opportunities last year to show that he belonged on this level. We feel he can give us some big plays this season”, Centurions general manager David Drane commented.

The fourth and last player the Centurions extended today was defensive lineman Ziebarth. The athletic run-stopper also recorded three and a half sacks last season and looks to build on his production in 2022, as he commented: “I am looking forward to a competitive year of 2022 in which every game counts. I believe in the quality of the league, and I am excited about my personal growth thanks to the top coaches. 2022 will be our year!”.

By re-signing four defensive linemen for the 2022 season, the Centurions try to bring much-needed depth to improve on defense this upcoming season.
