The Stuttgart Surge signed American quarterback Randall Schroeder to their roster, as reported by the team.

“I chose the Surge because of the opportunity. What coach Martin [Hanselmann] is building in Stuttgart is special and it’s becoming increasingly obvious that the European League of Football is the future of American football in Europe”, Schroeder explained. He added: “I can’t wait to be a part of a hungry team and an up-and-coming league”.

Born in North Carolina, Schroeder was named All-State and All-Conference in his senior year of high school. In that year alone, he threw for an astonishing 3587 yards and 32 touchdowns compared to only nine interceptions.

After attending the Manning Passing Academy, Schroeder took his talents to Trueman State University. He then transferred to Ave Maria University in 2017. In the Division II NAIA, Schroeder thrived under the new circumstances and managed to rank third in passing yards in Ave Maria school’s history after his last game in college.

“It was a long search in the offseason and my goal was to have a great quarterback for us by the end of December”, Surge head coach Martin Hanselmann points out. “With Randall [Schroeder], we have found a very experienced and very good quarterback. […] He knows how to win which will be important for us this year”.

Schroeder will join forces with American tight end David Meza who shined in his first year with the Surge. The Stuttgart franchise will surely look to add even more offensive playmakers for Schroeder to possibly push for the playoffs in 2022.
