Paris Musketeers: How to build a contender from scratch
The Paris Musketeers have punched their ticket to the semi-finals for the first time in team history. The french squad defeated the Munich Ravens in an instant classic 40-37 last weekend, officially taking the next step to contender status.
The Musketeers will travel to Vienna to take on the Vikings this weekend and could find themselves in the Championship Game with an upset victory. Like many ELF teams, the Musketeers are a brand new organization that is only in its second year of play.
After a 6-6 year-one in 2023, the Musketeers took an enormous leap forward in year two ending the season with a 10-2 record in an extremely tough Western Conference.
Led by head coach Marc Mattioli the Musketeers have done an excellent job both recruiting and developing French talents from around the country, giving Paris some of the best American football athletes France has to offer.
Coach Mattioli tapped into that homegrown talent and sprinkled in proven veterans like quarterback Zack Edwards, Dauson Dales, Chandler Jones, Toby Lettman and others to give this Musketeers squad the mix it needed to make the jump from intriguing unknown to championship contender. Whether it was MVP candidate Zach Edwards making clutch plays, or homegrown running back Chris Vuombo: This Paris team showed it has the depth, experience, talent and discipline to play with the league's top teams.
They'll have another chance to prove it against one of ELF's powerhouses, the Vienna Vikings, as the "new kids on the block" look to shock the Vikings and earn a chance for the title. In the front office the credits go to GM Marc Angelo Soumah, President Franzy Dorleann, and Directors Partick Butler, Jason Johnson, John McKeon, and Jessi Westering for building a winning organization from scratch in one of Europe's biggest cities.
