A new era is being introduced at Frankfurt Galaxy. After coach Thomas Kösling moved to the position of sports director, the German team needed a new head coach. They have now found one in Bart Andrus.

"I’m very excited to be joining the Frankfurt Galaxy family and return to coach the game I love in Europe once again. The growth of the ELF in four short years has been a wonderful thing to witness", says Andrus.

After Kösling had been in charge as a part-time coach for a long time, Andrus will now take over full-time at Galaxy. He will also be involved as an offensive playcaller.

Andrus brings more NFL experience to Galaxy

Andrus began his NFL coaching career with the Tennessee Oilers/Titans, where he served as Offensive Assistant, Quality Control Coach and Quarterbacks Coach from 1997 to 1999. In 2000, he moved to Europe, where he won a World Bowl as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach of Rhein Fire. In the following years he was Head Coach of the Amsterdam Admirals. In 2005, he led them to their first World Bowl victory in team history, for which he was named NFL Europe Coach of the Year. He reached the World Bowl again the following season, although the team lost to the Frankfurt Galaxy.

At the End of NFL Europe in 2008, he returned to North America, where he initially worked as an offensive assistant for the Tennessee Titans. He continued his career in various leagues and held several head coaching positions in the Canadian Football League (CFL), United Football League (UFL) and the XFL. In 2013, he worked as an offensive assistant for the St. Louis Rams.

Most recently, Andrus was Head Coach of the Philadelphia Stars in the United States Football League (USFL) from 2022 to 2023 and is now returning to Europe to lead Frankfurt Galaxy to new achievements.

"Bart Andrus is an absolute top coach who has already coached at many levels. He is a proven offensive expert who will help us enormously with his vast experience. He already knows Europe from his time in the NFL Europe and we are proud to present someone of his caliber as our new HC/OC", explains Sporting Director Thomas Kösling.

"In Bart Andrus, we have hired a coach with an impressive international network and in-depth knowledge of European and North American football.  We are convinced that he is exactly the right person to lead Frankfurt Galaxy into a successful future,"says General Manager Eric Reutemann.

After a disappointing season, Andrus should bring new success to Frankfurt and the Galaxy fans.
