Must-see-games: The Top Matchups of ELF Week 6
Felix Pahl

Week 6 of the European League of Football brings some of the most exciting and meaningful matchups of the season so far. With several high-stakes rematches on the schedule — including a Championship Game repeat, a battle for redemption in Hamburg, and a crucial clash in Paris — teams are fighting not only for wins, but also for momentum, confidence, and playoff positioning. Let’s take a closer look at the top games of the weekend.
Rhein Fire at Vienna Vikings – Saturday, 18:00 CET
One of the most anticipated games of the season will take place in Vienna when the undefeated Vikings host reigning champions Rhein Fire. It’s a rematch of both the 2024 Championship Game and the tight Week 3 matchup, which the Vikings won 12–7 in Düsseldorf. That loss marked the beginning of a rocky start to Fire’s 2025 campaign.
Now, Fire hopes to turn the tide after a dominant 43–0 win over the Hamburg Sea Devils in Week 5. With new offensive coordinator Fred Armstrong joining the staff, Rhein Fire is looking to build on that momentum and even the score with Vienna.
The Vikings, however, are well-rested following their bye week and confident in their home field advantage. Head coach Chris Calaycay expects a record-setting crowd at Generali Arena: “It’s extremely important. We don’t have to travel, and we’re expecting maybe a home attendance record. That’s a big advantage for us.”

Prague Lions at Hamburg Sea Devils – Sunday, 13:00 CET
Just like Rhein Fire, the Prague Lions are out for revenge in Week 6. In their Week 2 matchup, the Sea Devils defeated them with a strong defensive performance. Since then, the Lions have made impressive strides, earning two straight wins and improving in all phases of the game.
The Week 5 bye gave Prague time to reset and focus on continuing their momentum. Hamburg, on the other hand, is still recovering from a tough 0–43 loss against Fire and will look to bounce back at home. This game could be crucial for both teams in the hunt for playoff contention.
Frankfurt Galaxy at Paris Musketeers – Sunday, 16:25 CET
The Galaxy and Musketeers meet again in what could be a pivotal moment for both teams. In their first encounter earlier this season, Frankfurt took a commanding lead before Paris nearly pulled off a comeback in the second half. Despite the loss, it was a breakout game for Paris’ offense, which had struggled in the first two weeks.
The Musketeers have had time to regroup after their bye in Week 5 and are eager to prove their improvement wasn’t just a one-time thing. Meanwhile, Frankfurt is coming off a difficult Week 5, where illness and a poor performance led to a big loss against the Nordic Storm. They’ll need to rebound fast to avoid falling behind in the standings.
With revenge, momentum, and playoff implications on the line, Week 6 promises high stakes and exciting football across the league.
