ELF Live is back, and in the first episode of the new season, two of last year’s biggest stars joined the show. Former Rhein Fire defensive back Marloshawn Franklin Jr. and 2024 MVP Glen Toonga sat down with host Nick Alfieri and co-host Matt Bressington to share their thoughts on the upcoming season.

A new challenge for Toonga

Both players were key members of Rhein Fire’s championship-winning team last season, but now they have taken different paths. While Franklin Jr. has moved to the Canadian Football League, Glen Toonga remains in the ELF and will play for the new franchise, Nordic Storm.

Toonga believes that player movement is beneficial for the league: "It’s only the best thing for the league, right? I think it would get boring if everyone had stayed at Rhein Fire — if Coach Shoop had stayed, if Coach Andrews had stayed, if I and Jadrian had stayed. It would have been boring."

A more competitive ELF in 2025

For Toonga, these changes make the fight for the championship much more exciting: "I think the league will be less predictable this year." He also believes that more teams now have a real chance at winning it all: "It is more exciting. Why should only two teams have a chance to win when now six or even eight teams could compete for the title?”
