ELF Championship: Vienna Vikings stars to watch

The ELF Championship is a mere five days away. This year’s championship game will feature a highly anticipated matchup between the defending champion Rhein Fire and the undefeated Vienna Vikings.


Let’s take a look at a few stars to watch on the Vienna Vikings as they look to make history and become the ELF’s first ever two-time champions. 

QB Ben Holmes

The 29 year-old former CFL and USFL passer has excelled in his first year in Europe throwing for 2,603 yards and 34 touchdowns. Holmes had an outstanding semi-finals game throwing for 385 yards and finishing the game with 6 total touchdowns. 

RB Karri Pajainen

The Finnish Viking was the league’s second leading rusher this year putting up 1,123 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. The steady presence Pajarinnen provides on the ground is the train that keeps this Vienna offense moving on time.

WR Reece Horn

Horn has an impressive football resume having played in several pro-leagues including the NFL, CFL, AAF, XFL, and of course the ELF. The 31-year old put up 1,164 and 13 touchdowns this season proving he has plenty of gas left in the tank.

WR Noah Touré

Toure and Horn are the perfect rookie and vey combo on the outisde. Toure has been nomiated for Rookie of the year puttin gup a impressive 836 yards and 8 touchdowns during his first ELF season. The young Austrian's play could be a key to the game as they hope to stretch out this Rhein Fire defense.

LB Nikolaus Terlitza

The young homegrown Austrian talent has stormed on the scene this season leading the undefeated Vikings with 77 tackles. Besides wrapping up ball carriers in space, Terlitza has 5.5 sacks and 12.5 tackles for a loss this season, propelling himself into defensive rookie of the candidacy.

DB Benjamin Straight

Straight has been a staple on the Vikings defense for several seasons, playing with a model of consistency that could match up against many veterans across the league. This season, he’s once again been one of the top european defensive backs with 4 interceptions, 7 pass break ups and 48 tackles.
