All-Star David Rauter stays a Viking
The Vienna Vikings make a present to their fans and announce the next contract extension. Offensive lineman David Rauter will wear the jersey of the Austrian team for two more years.
“I’m incredibly excited to rejoin the Vienna Vikings for the next two seasons and to once again be part of this top tier organization. This team is more than just football — it’s a brotherhood “, says the 30-year-old.
Rauter is facing his fourth ELF season, and also his fourth with the Vikings. The homegrown is one of the best guards in the ELF. Last season he played a big role in the Vikings O-Line, earning him a spot in the First All-Star Team.
“We have unfinished business, and I’m ready to hit the field with my teammates and give everything we’ve got this season”, says Rauter highly motivated.
Vikings Head Coach Chris Calaycay is very delighted about the extension: „David produced an outstanding season and earned 1st Team All Pro honors after having been with us for the past three and a half years. That award was so well deserved. With David’s extension we are able to bring back another essential piece of our OL. You can‘t say enough about the performance of this group, and he is a huge man and huge addition for our 2025 campaign.“
After Lukas Holub and Clemens Walz, David Rauter is already the third offensive lineman the Vienna Vikings have announced for their 2025 roster.
