Vikings re-sign National Team starter Clemens Walz

The Vienna Vikings have extended the contract of Clemens Walz. The center signs for another season in purple and yellow.

"I am excited to announce that I have extended my contract with the Vienna Vikings for the upcoming season. Last season was an incredible journey, even though we fell short in the final”, says Walz. He explains: “What made my decision to stay an easy one is the amazing team chemistry we have. We’re not just a group of players – we’re a family that supports and pushes each other to be better every day. This brotherhood is what makes this team so special.“

For the upcoming season the homegrown has clear goals: “For the next season, our goal is clear: we want to pick up right where we left off and take that final step to bringing the championship back to Vienna. I’m ready to give everything, and I know that together as a team, we can achieve great things."

"Solidifies our Offensive Line in 2025”

It will be the 25-year-old's fourth ELF season. “His contract extension with the Vikings further solidifies our Offensive Line in 2025”, says Vikings Head Coach Chris Calaycay. The long-time coach is particularly impressed by Walz's international experience: “Having the starting Austrian National Team center rejoin our OL cements the consistency that this group has shown over the years. I am happy to have him back with us.”

Walz plays more of a back-up role for the Vikings. He has played 21 ELF games in the Austrian jersey so far, nine of which he has started. More games to follow next season. The vikings are therefore continuing their strategy of retaining promising homegrown players.
