Stuttgart Surge sign Jelvani Brothers
Sasan and Majan Jelvani will take the field for Jordan Neuman’s squad in 2023.
The Stuttgart Surge add another two proven German players to their already stacked roster. Sasan and Majan Jelvani will play for the Swabian franchise in the upcoming season.
The Jelvani brothers are well known in the German football scene. The younger one of them, Majan, is a versatile player with a lot of upside. Due to his size and speed, the former Rhein Fire player is not only capable of playing every position in the defensive backfield, but also offers potential at the linebacker position. The 23-year-old played in eleven games last season, collecting 20 tackles for Jim Tomsula's team.
His older brother Sasan on the other hand is one of the best edge rushers in Europe. The Saarbrücken native led the GFL in with 32 tackles for loss and 12 sacks in 2021, before signing with the Leipzig Kings for the 2022 season. Due to a torn bicep, the talented edge rusher, who is also a standout at the middle linebacker position, missed the entire campaign. With his comeback season right ahead, the national team player will be eager to remind fans and coaches out there that he is one of the best players in Germany.
Now the brother duo will join forces for the first time since 2018, when they played with their third brother Bijan for the Saarland Hurricanes in the GFL 2. Due to their talent and versatility, it will be interesting to see how defensive coordinator Johannes Brenner will use the duo in the upcoming season. After ranking in the bottom three in almost every category in 2022, the Stuttgart Surge defense has a lot to prove in 2023.
