Sandro Platzgummer will win the Offensive Player of the Year award
The former New York Giants running back will dominate in Europe.
The Tirol Raiders made THE move of this off-season when they signed former NFL running back Sandro Platzgummer. The 26-year-old Austrian grew up playing football for Tirol, before signing with the New York Giants via the NFL IPP. Now he is back with his former team and ready to turn heads.
Platzgummer is without a doubt one of the best domestic running backs to ever play in Europe. The Austrian is the only true running back to make it through the NFL International Pathway program (Chris Ezeala was more of a fullback in the NFL). With a height of 1,82 m and weight of 95 kg Platzgummer is not only fast but also has great contact balance. His outstanding burst will make him a dangerous weapon behind the Raiders’ offensive line which is one of the best in the league.
Platzgummer had great games for the Giants over the course of the past two seasons, amassing 85 yards on 12 carries, including an outstanding 2021 performance against the New York Jets in which he led the team in rushing yards.
Being one of the most gifted running backs in the league will go a long way for Platzgummer and he Raiders, as he will take their offense to another level. I have not been optimistic about Strong and the Raiders’ offense, but this signing truly takes them to another level. Platzgummer is my new frontrunner for the Offensive Player of the Year award, since I believe that he will carry the Raiders offense to a potential playoff berth.
