Prague Lions sign former Alabama defensive back Rogria Lewis

The two-time national champion will play for the Prague Lions in 2023.

The Prague Lions found their cornerback for the 2023 European League of Football season. Former Alabama Crimson Tide defensive back and two-time national champion Rogria Lewis will follow his former teammate Aleksandar Borković to the Czech franchise.

Alabama Crimson Tide and career in Europe

Lewis was a walk-on for the Crimson Tide and spent three years with arguably the best college football program out there. The Alabama native, who gets called DJ by his teammates, saw the field in 11 games during his senior season, racking up six tackles for Nick Saban’s team.

Last season, Lewis made his way to the AFL where he played for the Znojmo Knights. In nine games the American recorded 33 tackles, while breaking up seven passes and intercepting two. Now he and Aleksandar Borkovićwill team up once again to try and make the Prague Lions defensive backfield one of the best in the European League of Football.

Lions defensive coordinator Dan Disch is looking forward to working with his new playmaker: "I’m really excited that DJ will be joining us this season. He comes from a program - the University of Alabama - that’s second to none, and his character, his work ethic and his football knowledge reflect that. Can’t wait to get started."
