Most Exciting WR vs. DB Matchups in Week 1

Jéan Constant vs. Marcel Dabo
In this high-quality matchup Division I college experience and astonishing body-control meets insane athleticism and pure talent. The Barcelona Dragons wide receiver Jéan Constant is one of the shiftiest players in the European League of Football. In his Division I college career at Stony Brook he recorded one receiving touchdown in five straight games. It is important to mention that Constant is not only a wide receiver but has experience and success at returning punts and kicks as well. However, the youngster CB Marcel Dabo for the Stuttgart Surge looks to keep Constant’s stats low with his ultra- athletic size and speed. Dabo tested incredibly well at the combine in Stuttgart with a 40-yard dash of 4.4 flat and 18 bench press reps. Although the Surge CB is young and does not have the experience Dragons receiver Jéan Constant has, I am excited to see what he can do against top competition in Barcelona on Saturday.

Anthony Mahoungou vs. Marloshawn Franklin Jr.
This matchup involves NFL experience. The Frankfurt Galaxy wide receiver Anthony Mahoungou spent some time with the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL and earned most of his experience at Purdue playing Division I football. Safety Marloshawn Franklin Jr. plays for the Hamburg Sea Devils and is a total impact player. He played at the University of California Berkley and was part of the Philadelphia Eagles as well in 2018. Although he will probably not line up directly opposite of wide receiver Anthony Mahoungou, Franklin Jr. will have his impact on the game and certainly on Frankfurt Galaxy Quarterback Jakeb Sullivan. It will be interesting to see how this matchup plays out on Sunday at 3pm MESZ.

Leipzig Kings WRs vs. Berlin Thunder DBs
This matchup involves too many quality pass catchers from the Kings and too many talented defensive backs in Berlin to pin this down to only one matchup. The Leipzig Kings wide receivers will travel to Berlin with not only Division I college experience but even experience in the X-League and in the NFL. Kings’ wide receiver Anthony Dablé-Wolf played for the New York Giants and the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL. Japanese star wide receiver Yoshihito Omi played multiple years in the X-League. Other receivers like Jaleel Awini, Timothy Knuettel and Alpha Jalloh have at least college experience at their position. It remains to be seen where all of them line up, but the Berlin Thunder defense will have their hands full with one of the deepest, if not the deepest, wide receiver group in the European League of Football. However, Berlin Thunder also has a very talented group of defensive backs that cannot be underestimated. Leading the way is American import player JaMaal White with already a lot of football experience in Europe. Other players to look out for in this clash of eastern teams are Maxime De Falcis and Iiro Pekkarinen. Those three players have a lot of experience and talent covering wide receivers, so they will try to keep the endzone clean against a loaded Leipzig Kings offense on Sunday.
