The Frankfurt Galaxy have signed former Bundesliga player Thomas Zampach as a kicker to their roster for the 2022 season, as reported by the team.

The former Bundesliga player appeared in 131 games for FSV Main 05 between 1991 and 1997. From 1997 to 2000, Zampach played for Eintracht Frankfurt. After his active career as a professional soccer player, the 175cm tall and 77kg heavy athlete coached multiple soccer teams and even played kicker for the Frankfurt Universe.

Now, the 52-year-old wants to prove he still has power in his leg as the oldest player in the European League of Football. “I’m excited to be back on the field and I will do everything to get to the Championship again!”, Zampach states.

Frankfurt Galaxy head coach Thomas Kösling is excited to have such a high-caliber kicker on his team as well: “We are happy that we can put a true professional at this really important position. Thomas [Zampach] is a professional athlete and he already trains towards the 2022 season”. Kösling added: “Last year, it was really difficult to play without a functioning kicking-game. That’s history now. Thomas [Zampach] is more than motivated and will provide us with important stability […]”.
