Former Division I wide receiver Weston Carr signs with Vienna Vikings

The Vienna Vikings have their fourth American import player under contract for the 2022 season!

The Vienna Vikings have signed former Division I wide receiver Weston Carr to their roster for the 2022 season, as reported by the Austrian franchise.

The American wide receiver officially announced his return to Kiel for the 2022 season but when the Vikings called, it was a chance he could not refuse: “I chose the Vikings because it was an opportunity too hard to pass up”, Carr explained. The wide receiver added: “The coaching staff and organization are enthusiastic in working with me and will put me in the best possible system to win games”.

As already mentioned, the former Azusa Pacific and Pennsylvania State wide receiver played for the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes in 2021. Carr caught 15 touchdowns and recorded 1,318 receiving on the highest club-level for American football in Germany. Now, the standout wide receiver looks to join the Vikings in the EuropeanLeague of Football.

“The European League of Football has done a great job marketing itself and will be the premier league for American football in Europe”, Carr praised the league. He added: “I expect big things out of this season. I think the group of guys we have this year is a special bunch alongside a determined coaching staff. My goal for this season is to be the leading receiver in the European League of Football”.

Vikings head coach Chris Calaycay also noted that Carr will be a dangerous weapon in Vienna’s passing game: “It was always in our sights to have a dominate threat on the outside for us. We couldn’t believe that Weston was still available this late in recruiting and it was a no-brainer decision to add him to our wide receiver corps”. He added: “He is another guy that can do it all on the football field and is just a special wide receiver”.

With starting quarterback Jackson Erdmann, former Sea Devils tight end Adria Botella Moreno, and a lot of other weapons on the Vikings roster, Carr will add to an already strong offense that will be in a great position to score a lot of points this season.
