Wrocław Panthers sign WR Darrell Stewart Jr
The Wrocław Panthers have signed American import receiver Darrell Stewart Jr. The former Stuttgart Surge receiver makes the move from the southwest Germany to Poland to join the Panthers for the 2025 season.
The 28-year-old receiver is a veteran of European football, having played for the Dresden Monarchs and Stuttgart Surge in his international career. Last season, the veteran struggled with injuries and was limited to only 8 games, putting up 367 yards and 6 total touchdowns for the Surge. In 2023 Stewart was a key part of the Surge's run to the ELF championship game, putting up 754 yards and 5 touchdowns on 59 catches in only 8 games.
Stewart Jr was a star in the 2023 playoffs, putting up 378 yards and four touchdowns in the semi-final and championship game, helping the surge beat the Vienna Vikings in the Austrian capital.
Before joining the ELF in 2023, Stewart played his college football at Michigan State before spending some time in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers. He then spent the 2021 season in the German Football League playing for the Dresden Monarchs, earning GFL All-Star honors en-route to a German Bowl title. Stewart then spend the 2022 season in the USFL for the New Jersey Generals, making 7 catches for 138 yards.
Stewart Jr will look to connect with new Panthers quarterback DJ Irons as the Panthers hope to make a playoff push in 2025.
