Top 100 Players of 2023, No. 9: Berend Grube

The Top 100 Players of 2023 will be reveiled more and more every two days in the month of November. We will be releasing the Top 100 graded players of the season 2023 according to SportsMetrics. The grades reflect the individuals performance on the field.

All-Star and team leader

One of the more under the radar players in the ELF, Berend Grube played an amazing 2023 season and has been a key performer in a deadly Hamburg Sea Devils defensive line for many years now.

The 32-year-old has been a part of the Sea Devils since their inaugural season in 2021 and made an impact right away, recording 5.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss and a forced fumble in his first season, earning him an All-Star selection. After a down year in 2022, Grube stepped up following the retirement of multiple team leaders like Miguel Boock and Kasim Edebali, not only having a bigger impact on the field but also growing into a leadership role.

Team-leading production

This past season, the Sea Devils Team MVP ranked second on the team in tackles (51) and tackles for loss (13), while also being tied for first place in sacks (9.5), forced fumbles (2) and fumble recoveries (2). Ranking top five in the ELF in sacks and being the most impactful player on the Sea Devils, Berend Grube deserves more respect for his performances in 2023.
