Deep ball festival
The Helvetic Guards started the game strong, taking a 10-0 lead after a drive, in which Silas Nacita played quarterback, and a field goal, before two deep balls to Markell Castle turned the tide for the Ravens. After another two Castle touchdowns, including a 70-yard reception, the game was already decided in the 3rdquarter. The Ravens scored another two touchdowns against a Guards defense that just was not able to defend the deep ball, winning the game 39-10, thanks to a nine catch, 242 yards and four touchdown performance by Markell Castle. The Ravens win the first game in franchise history, while the Guards are still waiting for their first W in the European League of Football.
Dominant offensive performance
The Stuttgart Surge played three dominant quarters in their home opener against the Milano Seamen, leading 40 to 12 at the end of the third quarter, thanks to 120 yards and a touchdown on the ground by Kai Hunter and three passing touchdowns by Reilly Hennessey. The Seamen tried to start a comeback in the fourth quarter scoring 14 points, before an interception by Thiago Siebert ended the hopes of the Italians. After winning 40-26, the Surge are now 2-0 for the first time in franchise history, while the Seamen start their season 0-2.
Outstanding front seven
The Berlin Thunder finally found their passing game during their 36-27 win over the Wroclaw Panthers. Thunder QB Donovan Isom completed 15 passes for 364 yards and four touchdowns, while Aaron Jackson (111 yards, 2 touchdowns) and Robin Wilzeck (209 yards, 2 touchdowns) played amazing games as well. The Panthers offensive line was outmatched by an outstanding front seven that recorded nine sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss. Both teams are now 2-1.
New single game record
Jadrian Clark just broke his own single-game passing touchdown record in a 58-28 win over the Paris Musketeers. The French team was overwhelmed right from the start by the dominant Rhein Fire passing offense and big play defense. Jadrian Clark threw for an astonishing 473 yards and 8 touchdowns, with 400 yards and 6 touchdowns in the first half alone, setting a new European League of Football passing touchdown record. With three pass catcher with over 100 yards and two others with two touchdowns, Jim Tomsula’s team showed that they are five deep at the WR position and might have the best pocket passer in the league. Two interceptions by TJ Morrison made life hard for Zach Edwards, leading to a dominant win for the Fire, who are still undefeated at 3-0, while the Musketeers lose back-to-back games to fall to 1-2.
