Sunday Recap: Great performances and a nailbiter

Demonstration of power by the Galaxy

The Frankfurt Galaxy played like the towering favorite that they are against the Enthroners on Sunday. Thomas Kösling’s team showed an almost flawless performance on offense, defense, and special teams, not turning the ball over once. Galaxy linebacker Simeon Gabriel had a great game against the Hungarians, with safety Sebastian Brand and cornerback Jamalcolm Liggins also having tremendous impact on the game. In the end, the Enthroners were outclassed by a title contender, deservingly losing 0-46.

Offensive struggles and a close game in Hamburg

The second ever matchup between the Hamburg Sea Devils and Cologne Centurions was a close one. Both teams struggled to put points on the board in the first two quarters, leading to a halftime score of 3-0 for the Sea Devils. After a 14-point quarter by the Centurions, the Sea Devils came back in the fourth quarter, scoring 15 points and taking the lead on a punt return touchdown by Curtis Slater. While the Centurions threw the ball a record 63 times, Sea Devils import quarterback Isaiah Green completed just two of six passes for two completions and two interceptions in his few drives, after coming in for Moritz Maack and getting substituted lately by Maack shortly after. In the end, the Sea Devils win a close game and keep their marginal playoff hopes alive.

Dominant second half by Munich

The Munich Ravens finally managed to play a great second half of football. After a slow first half in which the defense secured a 9-6 halftime lead with two interceptions, the Ravens came out of the locker room determined to show that they are the better team, scoring three touchdowns in the third quarter alone. With the offense clicking and the defense being on point, the Ravens shut out the Helvetic Guards and their banged up QB, while scoring 26 second half points on offense. The Helvetic Guards defense showed flashes of excellence, with JR Tavai showing once again that he is one of the best defensive players in the European League of Football, but just could not handle the Ravens offense for four quarters. The 35-6 home win, and dominant second half spark hopes for a late playoff run by the Munich, while the Guards have their three-game win streak snapped and are most likely out of postseason contention.
