The 24-year-old cornerback, who is also known as an extremely capable returner, has been playing for the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League (USFL) for the past two years. In those two seasons, Christian Tutt made a total of 30 tackles and gained 113 yards as a returner. He was drafted in the second round by the New Jersey Generals in 2022.

Tutt previously played for the Auburn Tigers, the college team of Auburn University, in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) of the NCAA Div. I FBS, and thus at the highest college level in the United States, from 2018 to 2020. In three seasons, Tutt played a total of 33 games in which he recorded 88 tackles, two sacks and three interceptions for a total of 106 yards. As a punt returner, Tutt was responsible for a total of 408 returning yards in the 33 games. In the 2020 season, he also scored a touchdown for his team after recovering a fumble. Tutt had a particularly strong season in 2019, earning Second Team All-SEC honors. Christian Tutt gives the Surge another high-profile addition and a very high level of football IQ, adding to an already stacked secondary under DC Johannes Brenner. "Be the best player I can be and the best teammate." he said regarding his announcement.
