Luke Glenna makes no secret of the fact that his move to Nordic Storm is driven by one goal: becoming an ELF Champion. On Monday evening, Nordic Storm free safety Luke Glenna appeared as a guest on the ELF live show. In a conversation with the two hosts Nick Alfieri and Matt Bressington, he shared what winning the championship would mean to him:

"I mean, that’s the reason I’m still playing football. Winning a ring would mean everything to me over here. That’s why you play – to win the championship. I’m surrounded now with a bunch of guys who have done it, so I feel like this is the year."

New challenges abroad

At just 25 years old, Luke Glenna is already playing his third season in the European League of Football. The American, who grew up just near Minneapolis, Minnesota, and starred for the Division I program at St. Thomas University, made the leap straight from college to the ELF – a move he describes as a "kind of a perfect opportunity".

His move to the Barcelona Dragons at the start of the 2023 season turned out to be the perfect fit: "I was ready to go, looking for something new after being in Minnesota the first 22 years in my life."

After the 2023 season, Glenna had several options for the next step in his career. In the end, he and a few teammates decided to join the Madrid Bravos, who competed in the ELF for the first time in 2024: "I was just ready for a new experience. It was an opportunity I couldn't pass."

After two years on the Iberian peninsula, he joined the Nordic Storm in 2025. Along with the group of guys he now shares the locker room with, it’s also the colder weather that suits him well: "I feel like I’m back home. This is way more like Minnesota. It’s definitely nice to have a hoodie on most days."

League’s top defense

According to league stats, the Nordic Storm currently have the best defense in the league. Glenna sees several reasons for that. One of them is defensive coordinator Brandon Noble, who spent eight years in the NFL and brings a lot of experience. Another reason, Glenna says, is practicing against what may be the best quarterback in the league – their own signal caller, Jadrian Clark: "For our defense to practice against him is so good for us." With Clark - a back-to-back ELF champion - leading the offense, the Storm also have the firepower on the other side of the ball to make a serious push for the playoffs.

Unbeaten and ready

After a statement win over Frankfurt Galaxy in Week 5 - their toughest opponent so far - the unbeaten newcomers have shown they’re ready to compete for the championship. Now Glenna is ready for the next challenges, including the two matchups against the reigning champions Rhein Fire in Weeks 9 and 14: "We’re excited to play anybody. That’s going to be a big one, but right now we’re focused on the next game. I know they’re a great team, and I can’t wait to play those two games against them."
