Semifinal: Sunday’s Top Performers - Omari Williams & Till Janssen

What a comeback Rhein Fire pulled off! Thanks to a late surge, Fire secured the win against Stuttgart Surge and qualified for the Championship Game. In the second half, it was the defense that made the comeback possible. Surge could only manage three points in the second half, while Rhein Fire scored 10 points to send the game into overtime.

The drive that led to the tie was set up by a strong interception from Omari Williams, which he returned all the way to the red zone. The field goal sent the game into overtime, but the defense didn’t let up. Defensive back Till Janssen also caught an interception in overtime, ending the Surge's possession. Fire’s offense stayed calm and cold-blooded, winning the game.

Big day for Janssen

Janssen’s interception in overtime wasn’t his only big play. He had already grabbed an interception in the second quarter and was involved in forcing a fumble in the third quarter. Reflecting on the game, Janssen said: "It was an amazing day, but it’s not just me. The D-liners put pressure, there’s an incredible coach on the sideline making the right plays, and then everything just works."

He also spoke about the team’s mentality, saying: "We never doubted ourselves, and we know what we are capable of. We have already been tested in this area against Berlin and Paris."
