Semi Final Takeaways – Dynamic Passing Attack, Second-Half Strength

There was a lot going on in the European League of Football this last weekend! But what are the major takeaways?

The Semi Finals of the European League of Football are in the books which only leaves one game to play: the 2023 Championship Game in Duisburg. But what are the major takeaways before the league heads towards its final rodeo of 2023?

Surge rally past Vikings with dynamic passing attack

The Stuttgart Surge are a great team on offense, defense, and special teams. But what really sets them apart from so many different other teams is their dynamic passing attack. Since Darrell Stewart Jr. is on their team, the Surge are even more dangerous through the air than before. In only eight games, the American wideout produced 754 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. Next to him, the quarterback Reilley Hennessey can rely on German wide receiver Louis Geyer and Austrian playmaker Yannick Mayr which forms one of the most talented receiving corps in the league. Mayr and Stewart Jr. even showcased their return abilities in recent games.

Against the Vikings, the Surge were dominant through the air with the first score being a 65-yard touchdown pass to Louis Geyer down the right sideline. Look out for the Surge aerial attack to possible do some damage against the Rhein Fire defensive backfield on Sunday when it’s time for the third Championship Game in league history.

Rhein Fire wins games in second half

Although Rhein Fire has scored much more points in the first half of games during the regular season (295) than in the second half (217), the German franchise is best at closing out games in the second half with their depth of talented players. For some teams, backups on the Rhein Fire roster would be immediate starters. This allows them to rotate players and keep their legs fresh. It also gives them the advantage of being hard to predict. Any player on the field is dangerous at any time. And this advantage is even greater in the second half when Rhein Fire closes out games against exhausted players. Will the Surge have the power to withstand that second half force on Sunday?
