Saturday recap: Fehérvár Enthroners celebrate another win
After a shaky start to the season, the Fehérvár Enthroners (2-6) picked up another win (27-17) against the Milano Seamen (3-5) and it seems that Head Coach Joe Ashfield's team has found its rhythm. After beating the Prague Lions comfortbaly last week, the Enthroners can celebrate another victory - although a few mistakes invited the Milano Seamen back into the game in the fourth quarter.
Through the first three quarters, the offense around quarterback Jack Mangel confirmed the form from the previous week and posed many problems for the Seamen's defense. Head coach Ashfield repeatedly caught the Italian franchise on the wrong foot with his playcalls and Mangel executed the plays very well.
The veteran finished the game with 300 passing yards, three touchdowns, though he did throw an interception in the fourth quarter. In the passing game, he relied in particular on Nathaniel Robitaille, who caught nine passes and rushed for 120 yards. The playmaker repeatedly demonstrated his running skills after the catch. Nándor Tóth also impressed with two receiving touchdowns.
Meanwhile, the Enthroners defense bottled up the Seamen offense. Milano quarterback Zack Bronkhorst was often under pressure and made several mistakes, while the running game centered around Joc Crawford was also barely able to provide any relief.
In the fourth quarter, the Enthroners shifted down a few gears and mistakes crept in. Milano took advantage, as wide receiver Niccolo Pulsinelli found his way into the end zone and a muffed punt resulted in another touchdown for the Italian franchise. However, the Seamen's final rally came too late.
Next week, the Enthroners will face the Panthers Wrocław. The Milano Seamen will travel to Munich to face the Ravens, as they look to get back on track.
