Rhein Fire to play home-opener in Oberhausen
Rhein Fire play home opener at the Niederrhein Stadium
The reigning champions will play their home opener on June 8 at the Niederrhein Stadium in Oberhausen and not in the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena. Due to renovation work at the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena, the game against the Madrid Bravos cannot be played at the usual home venue, as the franchise announced via a press release. Fortunately for Rhein Fire, another venue, the venue of Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, is less than 20 minutes away from their usual home stadium. With a total capacity of over 17,000, the historic stadium provides a good home turf for the first Rhein Fire home game of the upcoming 2024 season.
Rhein Fire managing director Max Paatz is also looking forward to it. "The Niederrhein stadium is pure soccer cult, and I am very grateful to those responsible at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen for the discussions and cooperation. We will be presenting our Rhein Fire Gameday experience with Fire Party and so on to the fans here in the usual way!" Paatz said. In 2025, it was even already announced for the Fire to go back to Düsseldorf.
