Rhein Fire sign XFL return specialist and wide receiver Kelvin McKnight

Rhein Fire have signed former XFL record returner and Florida-native Kelvin McKnight. The 26-year-old wideout and return specialist showed his potential at a young age. His outstanding performance at Manatee High School, Florida, earned him a Division I scholorship at Samford University - the same school where Rhein Fire safety Omari Williams played. McKnight impressed in his first year and was named the best freshman in the Southern Conference. After being selected for the All-Conference Team the following year, the young American even made the All-America team in 2017 and 2018. McKnight still holds the school records for most receptions (313), receiving yards (4144) and receiving touchdowns (32).

A new weapon for Jadrian Clark

Despite his performances in college, the 1,75 m tall wide receiver was not selected by any team in the 2019 NFL Draft. However, after stints on the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots practice squads from 2019-2020, he earned a permanent spot on the Broncos' roster. McKnight played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL from 2021-2022 and won the Grey Cup with them in 2021. In 2023, the American played for the Seattle Sea Dragons in the XFL. With 983 return yards, McKnight played a major role in reaching the playoffs, during which he became the first and only player in XFL history to ever reach the 1000 return yards mark.

The American seems grateful for his first season in Europe. "I want to thank God for giving me another chance to play the sport I fell in love with as a child", as he is quoted in a press release.
