When Stuttgart Surge and Munich Ravens face off at the GAZi-Stadion on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at 4:25 p.m., it will mark the fifth meeting between the two teams. It’s a battle for supremacy in Southern Germany.

The four previous matchups between these two rivals have always been emotional, tough, and intense. The two teams met twice in the 2023 season, which was the Munich Ravens' debut year in the European League of Football. In Munich, the Surge dominated and won 28-9. In the return game Munich got its revenge with a narrow victory of 32-30.

Brave start for Russell Tabor

One year later, in the 2024 season, the two teams played each other in large stadiums. The teams kicked off the season in the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim, where Stuttgart demonstrated its superiority with a decisive score of 27-5. The second game, held at Nuremberg's Max-Morlock-Stadion, also ended in a decisive victory for the Surge, with a final score of 38:22.

Now, the Ravens are coming off their bye week in Week 3 and will play their first away game of the season. The Ravens have won both of their games so far.

In addition to Munichs new young quarterback Russell Tabor, who started brave with six touchdowns and three interceptions in just two games, the Ravens have several key players. These include German running back Justin Rodney, who played for the Frankfurt Galaxy from 2021 to 2022, winning the 2021 ELF Championship Game. This season, Rodney has generated 211 yards and scored two touchdowns. Impressive numbers. Among the pass receivers, Malik Stanley, is particularly noteworthy. The American has caught 19 passes for 256 yards and four touchdowns for the Ravens so far.

Hennessey-Geyer duo once again on fire

On Stuttgart's end you have to watch out for the Hennessey-Geyer duo. Quarterback Reilly Hennessey achieved a quarterback rating of 105 in the first three games of the current season. And there are already three touchdowns in the books for Wide Receiver Louis Geyer.
