Raiders Tirol sign US-American defensive back Fara'ad McCombs

The Raiders have signed their second US-Import for the upcoming 2024 season. With Fara'ad McCombs, an experienced defensive back joins the Raiders in their third year in the ELF. The former Columbia Lions (Ivy League) athlete brings quickness and Division I-knowledge. Fara'd McCombs: "I can’t say how truly blessed I am to be given this opportunity. The league looks talented and competitive across the board, and for players like me, that’s all we ask for. Can’t wait to meet everyone; the coaches, my newest teammates, as well as the fans! I hope to put it all out there for each and every one of them, broadcasting my talents as I did for the past four years in the Ivy League."

Versatility as a defensive back

Starting 22 games at Columbia, McCombs stood out in terms of explosiveness and versatility, while impressing by his football IQ, as Raiders GM Däuber mentioned. Jim Herrmann, head coach of the Raiders, is happy about the newest acquisition: "When you think of the safety position basically you are talking about the QB of the defense. He must be a great leader, communicator, the one that everyone looks to during all the chaotic times in a game. A safety needs to be versatile enough to play a deep zone or go down and play man on a slot receiver or a TE. When I was looking at safeties this past year, I found that leader and versatile player when I watched Fara’ad McCombs. After talking and spending time with Fara’ad I instantly knew he would become one of our best leaders and a great teammate."
