Raheem Simiram-Wilson returns to Surge for 2025 season

In a move that will excite Stuttgart Surge fans across the league, defensive back Raheem Simiram-Wilson is returning for the 2025 season. After a breakout campaign in 2024, the 31-year-old veteran has re-signed with the team and is set to remain a central piece in head coach Jordan Neuman’s defensive puzzle.

A playmaker returns to Stuttgart

Simiram-Wilson made an immediate impact upon joining the Surge last season, recording 6 interceptions, 162 interception return yards, 5 pass break-ups, and 2 tackles for loss — all in just 10 regular season games. His ball-hawking ability and veteran leadership quickly made him a cornerstone of the Surge defense and one of the most impactful defenders in the league.

When asked about his decision to return, Wilson’s answer reflected both passion and purpose: "To be part of something special. From playing for a great coaching staff to taking the field with an amazing group of like-minded players to ultimately hoist the championship trophy in front of a packed city of Stuttgart."

Simiram-Wilson’s journey to the ELF

This mindset speaks to Wilson’s winning pedigree. The American defensive back has championship experience at nearly every level he’s played. From back-to-back German Bowl titles with the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns in 2017 and 2018 — also under Coach Neuman — to a Grey Cup win with the Montreal Alouettes in 2023, Simiram-Wilson has proven he knows what it takes to win.

His professional career has spanned across borders and leagues, including a three-year stint with the Calgary Stampeders in the CFL from 2019 to 2022. But his football roots trace back to Texas, where he played for the Irving Tigers and DeSoto High School, later starring at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. His collegiate performance earned him First Team All-Great American Conference and Second Team All-American honors in 2016.

With Simiram-Wilson returning to Stuttgart, the Surge not only retain one of their top defensive talents but also a player whose mindset and championship experience could be the key to pushing the team to new heights in 2025.
