After more than a year without a victory, the Fehérvár Enthroners finally rewarded their loyal home crowd. In Week 13 of the 2025 ELF season, the Hungarian franchise ended its 385-day drought with a dramatic 34-31 overtime win over the Berlin Thunder. For the players, coaches, and fans, it was a moment that carried far more weight than just the number in the standings.

Head coach Mark Ridgley spoke with pride about what the team had overcome to reach this point. He emphasized that from the start of the season they had prepared for “opportunities, adversities, and challenges,” and that his players “never stopped believing and trusted the process.” For Ridgley, the win was a testament to the fight and resilience the team had shown despite injuries and setbacks.

A milestone victory

Since joining the ELF in 2023, the Enthroners have worked to establish themselves in a competitive league. Wins have been hard to come by, but this one marked an important step in their growth. Team captain Aleksandar Borkovic described the result as “pure heart,” explaining that the team fought until the very last second and, once the game went to overtime, “it was all about who wanted it more.” He added that the Thunder pushed them to the limit, but the Enthroners “stayed locked in and found a way to finish.”

Jon Cole’s midseason impact

Few players have made as quick an impact as Jon Cole, a midseason signing who has contributed as both a wide receiver and on special teams. With 10 touchdowns and a top-three position in receiving yards league-wide, Cole has become a consistent red-zone weapon. Reflecting on the victory, he called it “one of those moments you dream about” and praised the way “every unit - defense, special teams, and offense - stepped up and gave everything they had” to secure the win.

One more test at home

The celebration will not last long, as the Enthroners close their season in Week 14 with another home game - this time against the Stuttgart Surge, the newly crowned West Division champions. It will be a chance to measure themselves against one of the league’s top teams and to carry the momentum of their first win into a tough final test.

For Fehérvár, the victory over Berlin was more than an end to a losing streak - it was proof of their progress, a reward for their persistence, and a reminder that belief can turn into results.
