Playoff Recap – Vienna Vikings dominate Barcelona Dragons

It was a close fight only for some minutes.

The European League of Football Championship Game on September 25th is set. The Hamburg Sea Devils will meet the Vienna Vikings at the 28 BLACK Arena.

While the Dragons took too long to find their rhythm, a direction of travel was quickly apparent for the Vikings. Pressure from the Vikings' defensive line caused a lot of trouble in the Dragons' backfield early. Leon Balogh and his companions were too much.

Too much pressure?

Zach Edwards, MVP candidate for the 2022 season, had little time, and the Dragons' running game didn't even get going. For the Vikings, everything went as planned. With the return of tight end Adria Botella Moreno and defensive end Blake Nelson, the offensive firepower as well as the defense was much stronger.

Via a long catch by Moreno, the Vikings set the stage for a first down run by Florian Wegan. Jordan Bouah, Anton Wegan and others also showed their dominance. Even though Erdmann threw two interceptions in the first half, the victory was not in danger for the Vikings. There was a second touchdown by Florian Wegan before halftime. An injury to Michael Sam that ruled him out was even more disappointing for the Dragons at the end of the second quarter.

Four-headed monster

The Wegan brothers in union with Exavier Edwards and running back Modeste Pooda are four monsters on the ground. A four-headed monster by the Vikings was too much for the Dragons.

Wide receiver Michael Breuler added the icing on the cake. Late on, the Dragons were able to add two scores with Roque Alarcón and Elías Rodríguez before Modeste Pooda was able to score again. The Vikings were dominant and superior in all phases. In the end it was 39-12 after a 13-0 halftime lead with the Vikings having six sacks on defense 212 passing as well as nearly 200 yards rushing.

Austrian-German battle

Now comes the Austrian-German duel for the Vikings at home against the Hamburg Sea Devils and probably the best defense in the league. Football fans can look forward to a heated duel between two teams that have never met before, but now have two weeks to prepare. September 25 will show which team is the best American football team in Europe.
