The Wroclaw Panthers announced this week that they are parting ways with head coach Craig Kuligowski, but preparations for the 2026 season are already in full swing. With the contract extension of quarterback DJ Irons Jr., the Panthers have secured their leader on offense for the upcoming year.

Irons sets a new mark

In his first season in the European League of Football, Irons quickly proved his value. The 25-year-old quarterback finished the season with a 66.57% completion rate, throwing for 2,412 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just 8 interceptions.

But it was his rushing ability that truly stood out. Irons became the third-best rusher in the entire league, running for 1,023 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. With this performance, he made history by becoming the first quarterback in ELF history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a single season.

Looking ahead

By keeping Irons under contract, the Panthers have laid an important foundation for 2026. His dual-threat ability makes him one of the most exciting players in the league and a central figure for Wroclaw’s offense. Now, with their quarterback situation settled early, the Panthers can focus on building a competitive roster around him as they aim to return to playoff contention next season.
