Our Homegrown Special Team of the Year

Every year, the best ELF players are awarded at the Honors and in the All-Star Teams. However, we would like to focus on a very special group of players: The Homegrowns.

After the offense and defense, it's now the turn of our Homegrown Special Team of the Year.

Disclaimer: This team has been selected editorially and not by team members, managers or fans.

Returner 1: Paul Kavadia-Lenhardt (Frankurt Galaxy)

The position of returner is usually dominated by imports in the ELF. That doesn't stop Galaxy's Paul Kavadia-Lenhardt from doing a very good job. His main task is the kickoff return. He returned 35 of them for 792 yards. That makes him the third-best returner in the ELF. He missed the top 10 in punt returns. 91 yards from only seven punt returns is still impressive.

Returner 2: Simone Boni (Milano Seamen)

There is not one main returner in the Milano Seamen squad. Many players share this role. One of them is Simone Boni. The homegrown returned balls for a total of 361 yards. Including ten punts for 120 yards and 14 kickoffs for 231 yards. He returned his longest kickoff for 44 yards.

Returner 3: Marvin Rutsch (Munich Ravens)

The situation is similar for the Munich Ravens. There are a few returners here as well. One of them is Rutsch, who nevertheless delivered a good performance. He ran for 123 yards from ten punts. Although he only returned one kickoff, he managed to return it 50 yards.

Kicker 1: Lenny Krieg (Stuttgart Surge)

Krieg is a pure scoring machine. He scored 99 points for his Stuttgart Surge. No ELF kicker scored more points last season. No kicker converted more points after touchdown, and no kicker scored more kickoff yards. Krieg scored 6186 yards in this category. The only thing the 22-year-old can still work on is his accuracy of 68.8 percent on field goals. But that didn't stopped anyone from voting him into the 2024 1st All-Star Team.

Kicker 2: Mathys Dupont (Paris Musketeers)

Dupont also made the All-Star Team. The Frenchman was selected for the 2024 2nd All-Star Team. Dupont also played strong and scored a total of 69 points. A full 90 percent of his ten field goals landed between the goalposts. He also had a PAT accuracy rate of 84.7 percent.

Punter 1: Marek Hruboň (Prague Lions)

Yes, Hruboň made by far the most punts last season. Specifically 81 punts. Nevertheless, his numbers are simply strong. His punts flew a total of 2866 yards. That's an average of 35.4 yards per punt. His longest flew 65 yards. A total of 20 punts landed between the opponent's end zone and the 20-yard line.

Punter 2: Sebastian Van Santen (Rhein Fire)

The Rhein Fire offense ran and ran and ran. But when it didn't worked, punter Van Santen delivered. The German homegrown punted 26 balls for 913 yards. That's an average of 35.1 yards. His longest punt went for 69 yards. Van Santen was also selected to the 1st All-Star Team.
