Munich Ravens sign former ACOY Kyle Callahan as offensive coordinator

Munich Ravens head coach Kendral Ellison adds a blockbuster signing to his coaching staff. Longtime Tirol Raiders offensive coordinator and 2022 ELF Assistant Coach of the Year will join the Bavarian powerhouse for the upcoming season.

Two rivals join forces

Since joining the European League of Football for the 2022 season, the 36-year-old’s offense has been among the best Europe has to offer, beating out Ellison for the ACOY award in 2022, after his prolific offense led by MVP Sean Shelton ranked first in the league. Ellison’s defense faced off against Callahan’s offense in the 2022 semi-finals, where the now Ravens head coach beat out his new OC, guiding the Sea Devils to the Championship Game.

The perfect fit?

Callahan is not new to Germany, since he played quarterback for the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes and Berlin Adler in the late 2000s. Besides his experience in Germany, the former Raider has close ties to Munich. Callahan worked with Ravens general manager Sebastian Stolz and coached sports director Sean Shelton for many years in Tirol, so it should come as no surprise that the play caller is ecstatic about his new job:

“It is an honor to be a part of something so special. The Munich Ravens are taking the right path to building their franchise. The trust and the appreciation from top to bottom in the organization were the main reason why I decided to join the team. I am looking forward to our joint hard work. Thanks to everyone that supported me throughout this process. I cannot wait to start this new chapter in my career.”

Callahan has big shoes to fill after the departure of former head coach and offensive coordinator John Shoop, whose offense ranked second only behind the historically great Rhein Fire.
