Following an exciting finale of the 2023 season with Rhein Fire's victory over Stuttgart Surge in front of 31,500 enthusiastic fans in Duisburg, the officials of the European League of Football are already fully engaged in preparations for the 2024 season – and the fans' enthusiasm is immense. 10,000 tickets have already been purchased for the Championship Game scheduled for September 22nd at FC Schalke 04's VELTINS Arena.
Pre-Sale already reaching 10,000 ticket mark
"The memories of our event in Duisburg are still fresh and continue to give us goosebumps. But the journey continues, and we are thrilled to have surpassed the 10,000 ticket mark for the 2024 European League of Football final in Gelsenkirchen so early in the pre-sale. We are very proud that ELF is so highly appreciated by the football family," says Zeljko Karajica, CEO of the continental league.
"What we experienced in Duisburg was simply sensational, both on the field and in the stands. Now, we are looking ahead to the fourth season of the European League of Football, which will culminate with a mega-final on September 22, 2024, at the VELTINS Arena. It is our dream and our goal to witness the biggest game in the history of European football in Gelsenkirchen," emphasizes Patrick Esume, Commissioner of ELF.
Biggest game of European Football ever?
For this to happen, more than 48,125 spectators must be present in Gelsenkirchen, as were counted during the NFL Europe 2007 final in Frankfurt between Galaxy and the Sea Devils. The previous attendance record in the European League of Football was set by the "Seeteufel" from Hamburg in June with 32,500 attendees against Rhein Fire at the Volksparkstadion.
Which teams will come out on top in the regular season and playoffs is entirely open. However, Commissioner Esume will once again present the trophy to the winner after the Championship Game. Who will join the list after Frankfurt Galaxy (2021 in Düsseldorf), the Vienna Vikings (2022 in Klagenfurt), and Rhein Fire (2023 in Duisburg)?
In June of the coming year, 17 franchises from nine nations will enter the race: Berlin Thunder, Cologne Centurions, Frankfurt Galaxy, Hamburg Sea Devils, Munich Ravens, Rhein Fire, Stuttgart Surge (all from Germany), Barcelona Dragons, Madrid Bravos (both from Spain), Fehérvár Enthroners (Hungary), Helvetic Guards (Switzerland), Milano Seamen (Italy), Panthers Wroclaw (Poland), Paris Musketeers (France), Prague Lions (Czech Republic), Raiders Tirol, and Vienna Vikings (both from Austria).
