Milano Seamen sign former NFL RB Patrick Carr

The Milano Seamen make their first blockbuster signing of the season. Former Houston Cougar and Seattle Seahawks running back Patrick Carr will take the field for the Italian powerhouse in 2024.

Decorated high school athlete

Carr, who grew up in Texas, was an outstanding athlete for the The Woodlands High School, being a letterer in soccer, track and football. He received state honors in various sprint and long jump disciplines, but it was the gridiron where he really stood out. The now 28-year-old was a three-year starter and rushed for 5202 yards and 51 touchdowns during his career, breaking the school records of fellow NFL running back Daniel Lasco. He was a four-star recruit and committed to Colorado over the likes of Oregon, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State.

From College to the NFL

Carr played in all 12 games as a true freshman, rushing for 272 yards and four touchdowns and was named Colorado’s freshman player of the year. Due to personal reasons, the running back decided to transfer to the University of Houston to be closer to home. After sitting out a season due to NCAA regulations and rarely playing as a sophomore, Carr shared starting reps as a junior, playing in every game and leading the Cougars with 868 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

Despite missing most of his senior season due to injury, Carr was picked up as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Seahawks, following the 2020 NFL Draft. Ultimately, the running back did not make the final roster and was placed on IR prior to the season.

After spending the 2021 CFL season with the Ottawa Redblacks, the former high school star is now set to make his debut in Europe. Will he be able to carry the Seamen to success?
