Milano Seamen’s Stefan Pokorny stepping down as head coach
For the Milano Seamen, after one season in the ELF, it is already time to reshuffle the cards. With only two wins and ten losses, ranking at the last place in the Central Conference was a pill hard to swallow for all fans of the team.
Now, one day after their last defeat against the Raiders Tirol, head coach Stefan Pokorny announced his fare well on social media. The Austrian born football coach took over as head coach in 2021 and was formerly active as a youth coach for the Austrian national team, Danube Dragons and also being promoted to their AFL team in Vienna.
“It's time to say goodbye. I was very fortunate to have made the decision to coach the Milano Seamen two years ago. It was a time full of ups and downs. It was very emotional, although not always easy. Despite that, or maybe because of it, I will never forget this time in Milan. I carry many positive moments here with me and I hope you all will too”, he wrote on his Instagram page, continuing: “I want to thank all the players, staff, fans and my family for their support over these two years. It has been a great pleasure working with all of you.”
With many young and promising players, but also with a lot of offensive firepower, the Seamen fell short of expectations in their first ever season in the European League of Football. Who is next at head coach?
