McKay is back for Frankfurt Galaxy! QB1 gets new contract
Frankfurt Galaxy have chosen their quarterback for the 2025 season. As at the end of the previous season, it will be Matthew McKay.
The US import came to Frankfurt in week 8 of last season. The 25-year-old showed a lot of potential in his six games, completing almost 60 percent of his passes. In total, he recorded, 1393 passing yards and ten passing touchdowns, with just three interceptions.
McKay also showed that he can perform as a dual-threat quarterback. In 63 attempts, he ran for 432 yards and three touchdowns.
McKay began his career at Wakefield High School. He transferred to NC State in 2017. He played two years with the Wolfpack before transferring to Montana State for another with the Bobcats. He spent his senior year of college at Elon University Phoenix. After graduation, he played for the San Antonio Brahmas in the United Football League.
“Last year, Matt joined us in a very difficult phase and completely convinced us of his worth,” says Galaxy sporting director Thomas Kösling. He adds: “For us as a franchise, there was no question of wanting to re-sign him and now that our new HC has also given the green light, we are very happy to be able to present Matthew as the Galaxy's QB next year.”
Galaxy is currently in a rebuild. After numerous changes to the coaching staff, it is now time for some decisions for their squad.
