The Cologne Centurions have strengthened their roster with the signing of experienced player Maximilian Merwarth. After spending the last two seasons with Stuttgart Surge, Merwarth brings his knowledge of the European League of Football to Cologne. He will not only contribute on the field but also serve as a mentor for the team’s young players.

A successful career in Germany and Europe

Merwarth started his career with the Stuttgart Scorpions in 2013 before joining the New Yorker Braunschweig Lions, where he played from 2014 to 2022. During his time in Braunschweig, he won several championships, including four German Bowl titles (2014, 2015, 2016, 2019) and four Eurobowl victories (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018). In 2017, he also reached the German Bowl final as a runner-up. After moving to Stuttgart Surge in 2023, he continued to perform at a high level and is now ready for a new challenge with the Centurions.

Leadership and new challenges in Cologne

With his championship experience and strong leadership, Merwarth is expected to play a key role for Cologne. His winning mentality and deep understanding of the game will be valuable assets as the Centurions prepare for the upcoming season. In his own words, “I’m looking forward to using my experience to help the team win games and develop young players.” The team is confident that his presence will help them compete at the highest level.
