Madrid Bravos sign former Vikings' quarterback Chris Helbig

The Madrid Bravos have found their quarterback for the upcoming 2024 season. Chris Helbig, former Vienna Vikings' quarterback of the 2022 season, will be under center - leading the offense of Dave Warner. With their wide receivers Jean-Claude Madin Cerezo or William Patterson, the offense takes shape. Now 26-years old, the US-American started his collegiate career for the Colorado University Buffaloes, later joining the Butler Community College Grizzlies, Southern Utah University Thunderbirds and Eastern Michigan University Eagles until 2020. His story in Europe began in 2022, when he joined the Potsdam Royals in the GFL, racking up 3406 yards (led the league) and 36 touchdowns with only five interceptions.

A veteran for the Bravos

In Vienna, Helbig played in eleven games, throwing for 18 touchdowns, 2372 yards, with a completion rate of 63.18 percent. He reached the playoffs, but failed to win against the Surge, with four touchdowns and three turnovers. Helbig, known for his rushing ability, also scored nine touchdowns in 2023 over the run. Now, he joins the expansion franchise in Madrid.
