Madrid Bravos building something special for 2025

The Madrid Bravos have been one of the most active teams so far this offseason as they’ve made several big moves as they prepare for year two of ELF football in the Spanish capital.

New head coach Andrew Weidinger

The Bravos signed one of the best coaches in Europe with Andrew Weidinger. The former ELF coach of the year spent the past two seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Rhein Fire, helping them win back-to-back championships.

The NFL coaching veteran now returns to Spain to help the Bravos build on an excellent 8-5 season and a postseason appearance.

A plethora of Spanish talent

The Bravos are bringing back several key pieces to their playoff run last season as Carlos Carrasco, Javier Carrasco, and starting center Celestin Ngimbi. Of course, All-Star defensive end Alejandro Fernandez will also return to his hometown ELF team. Some new Spanish talent joining the team next season will be Jesus and Jorge Garcia Valcarcel, as well as ex-Barcelona Dragons defender Jorge Hernández.

Bolstering the offensive line

The Bravos used the first few weeks of the off-season to improve their offensive line by signing ELF veteran Yasir Raji from the Rhein Fire. They also signed Australian offensive lineman Brendan Oswin, who won the German Bowl with the Potsdam Royals last season.

Impressive pro experience for QB1

The Bravos already found their quarterback in former NFL, XFL, and UFL passer Reid Sinnett. After an impressive career at the University of San Diego, Sinnet spent three seasons in the NFL playing for the Miami Dolphins, Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Philadelphia Eagles.

After bouncing around in the NFL, Sinnet signed with the XFL’s San Antonio Brahmas, where he made one start in 2023. The following season Sinnet played for the Houston Gamblers in the UFL where he threw for 1,136 yards and accounted for 6 touchdowns in five starts.
