Madrid Bravos: Andrew Weidinger becomes new Head Coach
Andrew Weidinger is the new Head Coach of the Madrid Bravos. He replaces Rip Scherer, who coached the Bravos last season.
It is Weidinger's second ELF job in Spain. In 2022, he led the Barcelona Dragons to the semi-finals with a record of 8:3. He was then awarded “Head Coach of the Year 2022”.
After his time in Barcelona, he moved to Rhein Fire as Offensive Coordinator in 2023. Here he built a dominant offense that set the foundation for two back-to-back championship victories. He also got named ELF "Assistant Coach of the Year" in 2023.
Weidinger began his coaching career at the University of Arizona in 2000. From 2008 to 2014, he worked in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons. First as an assistant coach, later as assistant offensive coordinator. He then spent three years as an assistant coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He then came to Europe in 2021 and became offensive coordinator at the Potsdam Royals. After stops with the Barcelona Dragons and Rhein Fire, he is now with the Madrid Bravos.
