James Brooks named new Head Coach of the Prague Lions
Felix Pahl

The Prague Lions continue to shape their plans for the upcoming season and have found their new leader on the sidelines. James Brooks, a former Lions player and last season’s Defensive Coordinator, has been promoted to Head Coach, succeeding Dave Warner.
Stepping into big shoes
Brooks takes over a team that experienced a remarkable turnaround under Warner in 2025. Although Warner only spent one year in Prague, he led the franchise to its first winning season (7-5) and had them on the brink of a playoff appearance. Following the season, Warner decided to return to the Madrid Bravos, where he previously worked as offensive coordinator in 2024, and will now serve as their new Head Coach.

From player to coach
Brooks is no stranger to the Lions organization. Known for his physical and passionate style of play, he was one of the team’s defensive cornerstones during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. As a defensive end, he recorded 81 tackles, 27.5 tackles for loss, 16 sacks, and six forced fumbles over two years before transitioning into coaching.
As Defensive Coordinator in 2025, Brooks built one of the league’s toughest units. The Lions’ defense ranked seventh in both pass and rush defense, registered 24 sacks, and finished with a +14 turnover ratio, the second-best in the ELF.
A new chapter for Prague
With Brooks now taking over as Head Coach, the Lions continue their steady rise in European football. His familiarity with the team, both as a player and coach, combined with his defensive mindset, gives Prague a strong foundation to build on. After their breakout 2025 season, expectations are high that the Lions will take the next step - and Brooks will now be the man leading that charge.
