Helvetic Mercenaries sign QB Isaiah Weed

The Helvetic Mercenaries have found their QB1 for next season signing former Cologne Centurions quarterback Isaiah Weed. The veteran passer joins head coach Marcus Herford and all-star receiver Aaron jackson in Switzerland. 

Weed was one of the more electric quarterbacks in the ELF last season throwing for 2553 yards and 17 touchdowns, while adding 702 yards and 8 touchdowns on the ground. The 27-year old was able to give Centurions fans some electric moments last year leading them to huge wins over the Frankfurt Galaxy and Hamburg Sea Devils.


 His best game of the season came against the Sea Devils in Week 13 where weed ran for 137 yards and two scores, while throwing for 310 yards and a touchdown.

Big game experience heads to Switzerland 


While 2023 was Weed’s first season in the ELF, the Seattlehas spent time playing in Germany, Serbia, Austria, and Denmark during his time as a professional. In 2023, Weed led the Rostock Griffins to a 6-3 record in the German Football League throwing for 2,534 yards and 32 touchdowns, and only eight interceptions. The dual-threat quarterback also added 469 yards and eight scores on the ground.


Before coming to Europe, Weed played at He graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University (NCAA Div. II) throwing for 2,592 yards and 23 touchdowns while rushing for 492 yards and another 10 scores.The next season he transferred to Minot State University, where he threw for 1,812 yards and 18 touchdowns in 15 games.

 

Weed becomes the final American import headed to Swizterland as the Mercenaries ahve already signed WR Aaron Jackson, DE Demarco Artis, and DB Joc Crawford as thier ofther american imports. Notably head coach Marcus Herford was able to brign back 2024 Rookie of the year WR Milan Spiller for another season at home.
