Helvetic Mercenaries sign Australian LB Tom Hodgkinson

The Helvetic Mercenaries have signed Australian linebacker Tom Hodgkinson. The talented defender from down under will be one of the Swiss squad's European imports for this upcoming season. The Mercenaries have signed the 27-year-old linebacker to join head coach Marcus Hereford and defensive coordinator Michael Wood, a unit that hopes to make a big jump in 2025.

The 187 cm and 96 KG linebacker was a standout for the Oldenburg Knights last season in Germany’s GFL2. Hodgkinson on showed the ability to rush the passer and drop back in coverage as an outside linebacker last season. 

The Australian is a veteran of the down under American football scene, having played for the local powerhouse Bayside Ravens.

The Aussie joins a complete group of American imports, including All-Star receiver Aaron Jackson. The Mercenaries have also sighed European import Tyrell Bovelle and Brazilian veteran offensive lineman Octavio Amorim.
