Helvetic Guards on the upset: "We showed that we belong here"

The Helvetic Guards made the impossible possible in Week 7. Against the Stuttgart Surge, the Swiss franchise pulled off the big upset, including four interceptions against a rather strong Surge offense. For the Guards, it’s their second win in a row, with the second one being one of the biggest in league history. Having joined the European League of Football just this year, starting 0-5 was not the best entrance.

Silas Nacita takes over

"I think every team gets to a point where they skyrocket through or tank and just drop. For us going 0-5, losing our quarterback, struggling to come together, there was a time when people thought about giving up. But I think we came together in the last and this game to the point where we can compete in this league. We showed that we belong here!", said Silas Nacita, Swiss Army knife of the Guards.

"We keep working"

With two interceptions, French playmaker Maceo Beard tied the season record of Goran Zec with six interceptions with six fewer games.  "We played good as a unit, communicated and played hard. It’s all about us. No matter who we play, no matter what people think. We keep working, every single game, every single week and give our best!", he said, added by his teammate Ken Hike Jr.: "It was beautiful. Feeling good getting that second win. It was a plan coming together on game day. We played lights out. Now we get ready for next week."

The Guards surprised many, having the chance to surpass the Dragons in the Central Conference in week 8. When it all comes together, the Guards could at least annoy some higher rated teams. Make sure to keep an eye on them.
