Hamburg Sea Devils sign standout Brit linebacker Toby Naylor

With Toby Naylor, the Hamburg Sea Devils have signed a British linebacker for the upcoming ELF season. Despite his young age, the 23-year-old can already look back on a strong career and was one of only a few British players to play for a US college as a team captain. Born and raised in Southampton, Naylor comes to the Hanseatic city from Brevard College (Div. III).

British football talent for the Devils

"I'm excited to become a Sea Devil and have heard nothing but good things about the city, the franchise and the team culture. I'm excited to do my part," the 1,89 m tall linebacker said, who played for the Solent Seahawks Academy, Bristol Pride Academy and the national youth team in England.

In five years at Brevard, Naylor had 254 total tackles, 38 tackles for loss and four interceptions in 45 games. Miguel Boock, former Sea Devils middle linebacker and Director of Sports, is looking forward to welcoming Naylor. "With Toby, we were able to sign a defensive 'field general' that is rarely found in European football. Especially at the middle linebacker position, it's important to have someone with leadership qualities and football IQ. Toby has both and was team captain at college for three years. His attitude and the goals he has set for himself have convinced us. I am very happy to welcome Toby to Hamburg!"
