After a final appearance last year and a fast end to the 2023 season, the Hamburg Sea Devils have parted ways with head coach Charles Jones.

"That the season will be different due to the personnel changes in the team, we were already aware in the spring. However, intensive reflection and discussions with players and coaches have now shown that we need new impetus in the leadership and direction of the team. That's why we have decided to terminate Yogi Jones' contract prematurely. Discussions are already underway with potential candidates to fill the vacancy. The main goal is to find a charismatic and experienced personality as soon as possible, who will quickly bring our young team back on the road to success with a clear concept. On behalf of the Sea Devils and personally, I would like to thank Yogi for what he has done for the Hamburg Sea Devils and football in the city over the last two years. We wish him all the best," said Max Paatz, General Manager of the Sea Devils.

Unsatisfied in the end

Charles Jones led the Sea Devils to the European League of Football Championship Game in 2022 with the help of defensive coordinator Kendral Ellison and offensive coordinator Philipp Schulz. Last season, however, the Sea Devils were unable to build on their previous successes and were defeated by the Paris Musketeers, Frankfurt Galaxy and Rhein Fire, among others, with a 4-8 record.
