Galaxy signs Matthew McKay and places Luke Zahradka on IR

Frankfurt Galaxy has introduced Matthew McKay as their new quarterback after placing Luke Zahradka on the Injured Reserve list.

Matthew McKay brings a wealth of experience from playing football at various levels, including internationally. He started his College career at NC State (Division 1) in 2017. During the 2019 season, he threw for a then-career-high of 910 yards in six games, along with three passing touchdowns. In 2020, McKay was transferred to Montana State, where he concluded the season with 2,037 passing yards and 17 touchdowns. His senior year saw another transfer to Elon, where he achieved a career-best with 21 touchdown passes, along with 458 yards and three rushing touchdowns.

He wasn't drafted in the 2023 NFL draft, therefore went into the XFL, signed at the San Antonio Brahms.

"We hope that his skills bring out the potential of this offense"

"We hope that Matthew will give the offense a new impuls and that he will use his skills to bring out the potential of this offense", said Head Coach Thomas Kösling.

Matthew McKay's arrival is poised to bolster Frankfurt Galaxy's offensive strategy and enhance their performance in upcoming games.

Frankfurt is playing against Cologne on Saturday (18:00 CET).
