Frankfurt Galaxy have spent their last A-import slot. The German team signed US cornerback Channing Stribling. The 31-year-old can already look back on seven years of professional football in various US leagues.
It will be a homecoming for the US American. “I chose Frankfurt because of the familiarity of the coaching staff, I grew up in Mannheim and Frankfurt as a kid,” reveals Stribling. He adds: “Always wanted to go back and visit, and now I can represent the city to win a championship. I am ever excited to be a part of something great.”
It all began for Stratus at the University of Michigan. At the NCAA Division I college, he studied literature, science and art. He excelled with the Wolverines, finishing his college career with the fourth-highest single-season pass deflections (17) in school history. He also made the All-Big Ten second team in 2016. After his college days, he declared for the 2017 NFL Draft. He was not selected.
Stribling brings a wealth of experience to Frankfurt Galaxy
Nevertheless, he made it into the NFL. Stribling signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns in 2017. Following that, he played for several NFL teams on the practice squad, including the Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Chargers. But he did not play a game in the regular season.
In 2019, Stribling decided to move to the Alliance of American Football (AAF) with the Memphis Express. This was followed by other teams in the US league, as well as stops in the XFL, Canadian Football League (CFL) and United States Football League (UFL). In 2022, he played for Philadelphia Stars under Bart Andrus, who was presented as the new head coach of Frankfurt Galaxy this offseason. The cornerback spent last season with the St. Louis Battlehawks in the UFL.
Stribling is the Galaxy's fourth and final A-import for the coming season. The team from Frankfurt previously signed Shyheim Battle (CB), Terry Wright (WR) and Matthew McKay (QB).
